Cree - Eeyou Istchee, the People of the Huntsourcetest

In 1975, the Crees, along with the Inuit, were negotiating with the Federal and Provincial governments concerning the hydroelectric development of their region. This period marked a turning point in their pursuit of self-determination. To this day, the majority of the population speaks Cree, with English as their second language.
